Avial is a kerala special dish.It goes well with rice,adai.

Potatoes :2

Plantain :2

Tomato :3

Carrot : 2( vertically sliced)

French beans : 6

Bottle guard :a small cup of pieces

Ivy gourd(Dondakai) :5

Colocasia(Chemadumpa) :5

Turmeric powder :a pinch

Drum stick :1

For Grinding:

Coconut pieces :3 small cups

Green chillies :7

Jeera :1 1/2 tablespoons

Curd :3 cups( select sour curd)

For Seasoning:

Mustard seeds :1/2 tablespoon

Curry leaves : 10 leaves

Coconut oil : a tablespoon


1.Cut all the veggies and pressure cook them.Cook drumsticks seperately to avoid mashing up.

2.Take a mixer grinder and add coconut pieces,green chillies and jeera and grind it to a paste.

3.Add curd to this ground mixture and grind for a while.

4.Remove excess water from the cooked veggies , add the ground mixture and cook for 5-10 minutes.

5.Once this comes to boil ,add turmeric powder.Take a kadai and add a spoon of ghee,mustard seeds and curryleaves.Add the seasoning to the boiling mixture and switch off the flame.Add some more curd if the aveal is diluted too much.

6.Add a tablespoon of coconut oil at the end.(optional).Serve hot and yummy aveal with rice or Adai:):):)
