(1 cup measures 250 ml)
Rice ravva :1 cup.
Water :2 cups
Moong dal : 1/2 cup
Salt : as required
For Seasoning :
Chana dal : 1/4 tablespoon
Urad dal :1/4 tablespoon
Jeera : 1/4 tablespoon
Mustard seeds :1/4 tablespoon
Ginger : a small piece( cut to small pieces)
Curry leaves : a handful
Ghee : a tablespoon (optional)
Pepper powder : a pinch(optional)
1.Cut green chillies and ginger to small pieces and keep them aside.
2.Take a kadai,add oil.As the oil heats up add chana dal,urad dal,red chilli,jeera,mustard seeds.As the mustard seeds splutter,add ginger,curry leaves.
3.Once all these are fried,add water and moong dal.
4.As the water comes to boil simmer the flame and add the rice ravva.Close with a lid and leave it for 10 minutes.Add a spoon of ghee and pepper powder at the end to add more flavour(optional).
Serve hot rice ravva upma with Aavakaya(mango pickle).
****Once you keep the lid leave it for 5 – 10 minutes to get correct consistency of upma.Donot take the lid in the middle and stir. After 10 minutes take the lid and stir if required.******
